Portland, Oregon: Part III

As promised, here are more pictures that I took today:

This is the view of downtown Portland. I took a glass gondola to the top of a tall hill and got great views and great pictures.

This picture is downtown Portland and the surrounding area.

Portland has a lot of bridges because the city spans the Willamette. This picture shows two of the bridges.

This is a street in an area of Portland known as Nob Hill. It's a quaint area with little boutique stores and cute restaurants. I thought the leaves were so beautiful!

I'm leaving Portland tomorrow. It's been a great city to visit. The town is very clean and eco-friendly. Maybe I'll come back one day.

Portland, Oregon: Part II

Here are some pictures that I've taken here in Portland:

This is Sam, the new baby elephant at the Oregon Zoo. He looks small, but he weighs over 400 pounds!
This was the view from the Oregon Zoo. The trees are so beautiful here this time of year.
More pictures will be posted soon!

Portland, Oregon: Part I

After a 4 hour flight yesterday, I arrived in the Pacific Northwest in the beautiful city of Portland, Oregon. Why Portland? I came to Portland to visit my friend Allison that I met in Monterey this summer and to see the Pacific Northwest, an area that I've always wanted to see. So far, everything has been great. The weather is perfect! 60 degrees, clear and sunny. Everyone keeps telling me that this isn't typical Portland weather.

We dropped my stuff* off at her house and then went to an apple festival. We tasted over 25 different kinds of apples. Let me tell you, you might think that all apples taste the same, but they don't. Then we went to a barbecue which was outside of Portland. The house had beautiful views of Mt. Hood.

Everything is really green and lush. The trees are changing and it's the perfect autumn weather. We visited the Oregon Zoo today which was incredible! I've never been to a zoo like it before. They had all different kinds of animals, from cougars to elephants to primates.
I'll be updating more. I don't leave here until Tuesday.

* I refuse to pay to check a bag. So I don't. That's right. I only took a carry-on, and it was just fine.
